The current EATTA has metamorphosed over many years since it started its life over 75 years ago when The preliminary meeting of The East Anglian Sawmill Owners Association was held On Tuesday 28th April 1942 @ 11.00am in Ipswich.

There were then just seven attendees’ – all well-known or eminent East Anglian family Sawmillers and / or Importers resulting in representatives being sent to The National Sawmilling Association at TTF Headquarters.

There were two sides to the to The Association – The East Anglian Softwood Importers Section and The East Anglian Sawmill Owners Association.

This format was maintained and over the years its fortunes dipped and prospered in conjunction with the economic cycle. In 1994 the two Associations decided to merge into The East Anglian Timber Trade Association.

In most recent times, The Association has grown significantly with its membership expanding and flourishing and with its reserves suitably restored, enabling funding to be set aside for project work in the region.

The Association holds 3 to 4 meetings per year, an Annual celebratory and charity fund raising Dinner, a bi-annual Marketing Meeting and a Charity Golf Day in aid of the TTBS

Each meeting EATTA try to cover new and topical subjects of the sector.

The meetings are extremely well attended so much so that new venues have needed to be found and tried and the Annual Dinner@ Kings College Cambridge, is always hugely oversubscribed.

But the key attributes remain the same to us now as to our founder members – remaining up to date, relevant and pertinent to all members and attendees of our meetings.
