EATTA Annual report 2018 – 2019
General
The year 2018 – 2019 saw The Association continue to expand and grow and can be considered to have had a first-class year. Membership grew again and despite losing a couple of members on the way our membership stands at an all-time high. Judicial budgeting and careful financial assessments enabled The Association set aside funds for the development & promotion of our industry within our region.
The first year of EATTA” Who teaches the teachers project “ 2018, where influential lecturers and specifiers from Universities and Companies within our region visit supply countries to see first-hand sawmilling operations and the unique sustainability of our product, saw a successful launch with a sponsored visit to SCA in Northern Sweden. The 2019 follow on visit to South Sweden is already in hand with the generous sponsorship of Vida Timber AB & a 2020 planned visit to Eastern Norway is now well underway.
The Chairman is working with Universities on two new schemes on promotion of timber and its usage and will be a judge in two regional University “Design in Building” awards.
The 2018 Association Dinner was an outstanding success with this year’s nominated local charity “Hearing dogs in East Anglia “as the worthy beneficiary.
During the year EATTA represented The Industry at the funeral and internment at Westminster Abbey of Stephen Hawkins.
This year we are currently working on a project to organise regional MP’s to further their understanding of our sector and industry and with two institutions focussing on low cost housing.
