On Thursday 5th June Greg Pickett, EATTA Chair welcomed 80 members and guests to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire for the June 2025 General Meeting.
The bumper crowd heard discussions on the most pressing matters of the trade including updates from Chris James on Softwood, Richard Fatkin on Panel Products and Damian Thomas on Sustainable Sourcing. Laura Qualters & Chris Sutton gave updates on TDUK initiatives and promoted the inaugural Women in Timber (WIT) event on 5th September.
Anthony Considine gave an update on the inaugural charity EATTA / TTBS golf day that had been a huge success, the sun shone, teams excelled, and £4420 was raised for TTBS and the date for 2026 is Thursday 14th May.
Sheila Hutchings, EATTA Secretary advised members that regretfully the 5-point plan had been put in place regarding the 2025 dinner ticket allocation as more tickets were requested than were available. Weather permitting pre-dinner drinks kindly sponsored by Anders Wedel of Anglo Norden Forest Products will be served from 6pm on the back lawn at King’s College, Cambridge.
Special thanks was given to guest speaker Mike Perry of Donaldson Timber Systems for a very informative and engaging presentation on the current and future role of timber-frame housing in UK construction.
Tabitha Binding was welcomed as the new secretary; members will remember her from WTTT and other educational initiatives. Sheila and Tabitha will work together to enable a smooth handover to complete in early 2026.
The meeting was followed by a delicious BBQ (and one or two drinks), in the Armoury and grounds of the Museum. Thanks to all the staff at IWM Duxford who looked after us exceptionally well and made us all feel so welcome.
